The author establishes the existence and uniqueness of a strong periodic solution of the primitive equations of the ocean when the heat source is regular and small enough. To this aim, he considers a sequence of modified problems \((P)_m\) for which he obtains, via the Leray-Schauder fixed point result, the existence of a solution \(u_m\in C^1([0,T],H_m)\) with \(\{H_m\}\) a suitable sequence of finite dimensional spaces. Then, the solution is obtained as a limit of a subsequence of \(\{u_m\}\). A priori estimates on the strong solutions are also given.
