A bounded linear operator \(T\) on a separable complex Banach space \(X\) is said to be \textit{hypercyclic} with a hypercyclic vector \(x\in X\) if its closed orbit at \(x\), i.e., the closure of the set \(\text{orb}(x,T):=\{T^n x, n \in \mathbb N\}\), coincides with \(X\). The operator \(T\) is said to be \textit{orbit-reflexive} if the only operators \(S\) for which \(Sx\) lies in the closed orbit of \(T\) at \(x\) for all \(x\in X\) are those in the strong closure of \(\{1,T,T^2,\dots\}\). In [Isr.\ J.\ Math.\ 63, No.\,1, 1--40 (1988; Zbl 0782.47002)], \textit{C.\,J.\thinspace Read} has constructed an operator on \( l^1\) for which all nonzero vectors are hypercyclic. In [Int.\ Math.\ Res.\ Not.\ 2008, Article ID rnn083 (2008; Zbl 1159.47003)], \textit{S.\,Grivaux} and \textit{M.\,Roginskaya} simplified and adapted Read's construction to the Hilbert space setting to obtain a bounded linear operator \(T\) on a separable complex Hilbert space \(H\) with the following properties: \begin{itemize}\item[(1)] Every closed orbit of \(T\) is a closed linear subspace of \(H\). \item[(2)] The family of all closed orbits of \(T\) is totally ordered by set-inclusion. \end{itemize} They also gave an example of an operator on \(H\) which is not orbit-reflexive. In the paper under review, the author proves that any bounded linear operator \(T\) on a separable Hilbert space \(H\) satisfying the above two statements is, in fact, not orbit-reflexive, and so no modification of the construction \textit{S.\,Grivaux} and \textit{M.\,Roginskaya} [loc.\,cit.]\ is needed to obtain a non-orbit-reflexive Hilbert space operator.
