The paper is concerned with the second order nonlinear neutral differential equation \[ (r(t)(x(t)+p(t)x(t-\tau))')'+f(t,x(\sigma_1(t)),x(\sigma_2(t)),\dots ,x(\sigma_n(t)))=0,\tag{1} \] where \(t\in\mathbb I=[t_0,\infty)\), \(\tau>0\) is a constant, \(r\in C^1(\mathbb I,(0,\infty))\), \(p,\sigma_i\in C(\mathbb I,\mathbb R)\) for all \(i\in\{1,2,\dots ,n\}\), and \(f\in C(\mathbb I\times\mathbb R^n,\mathbb R)\). The asymptotic behavior of non-oscillatory solutions of equation (1) is studied separately in two cases when \(\int_{t_0}^{\infty}\frac{dt}{r(t)}<\infty\) and \(\int_{t_0}^{\infty}\frac{dt}{r(t)}=\infty\). Obtained results are illustrated with two examples.
