    Given a bounded linear operator \(A \in L(X,Y)\) between two Banach spaces and closed subspaces \(T \subset X, \, S \subset Y\), the generalized inverse \(A_{ST}^{(2)}= A' \in L(Y,X)\) is defined by the properties \(A'AA' = A', R(A') = T, N(A') = S\). Conditions are given such that the operator sequence defined by \(B_{k+1} = B_k + \beta C (I - AB_k)\) converges to \(A'\), where \(\beta\) is a complex number and \(C \in L(Y,X)\) is a suitable auxiliary operator with \(R(C) \subset T\) and \(S \subset N(C)\), generalizing a similar result on generalized inverses of matrices obtained by \textit{Y. L. Chen} and \textit{X. Y. Tan} [Appl. Math. Comput. 163, No.~1, 309--325 (2005; Zbl 1069.65041)]. An analogous result is proved for generalized Drazin inverses in Banach algebras.
