For a metric space \(Y\) let \(B(Y)\) denote the family of all closed and bounded subsets of \(Y\). A mapping \(\phi:X\to B(Y)\) is locally bounded if for every \(x\in X\) there exists a bounded set \(V\subset Y\) and a neighbourhood \(U\) of \(x\) such that \(\phi(x)\cap V\neq\emptyset\) for each \(x\in U\). The purpose of the paper under review is to characterize countably paracompact (or countably metacompact) spaces, and monotonically countably paracompact MCP (or monotonically countably metacompact MCM) spaces by expansions of locally bounded set-valued mappings. The notions of MCP and MCM spaces were introduced in \textit{C.~Good, R.~Knight} and \textit{I.~Stares} [Topology Appl. 101, 281-298 (2000; Zbl 0938.54026)].
