The author provides a detailed study of the properties of the space of functions of bounded mean oscillation. He studies rearrangements of functions and gives the John-Nirenberg inequality and the Bennett-deVore-Sharpley estimate for the difference between the average of the rearrangement and the rearrangement. He defines both \(BMO\) and \(BLO\) and studies the Hardy operator and its dual as well as the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator on these spaces. Finally he gives results about weighted estimates using the Gehring class (sometimes called the reverse Hölder condition). The study in purely internal to \(BMO\); there is no discussion of its role as the dual space of the Hardy spaces.
