A geometrical condition for a domain in Euclidian \(n\)-space to be a \((q,p)\)-Poincaré domain with \(1\leq p<\infty\) and \(0<q<p\) is given. Necessary conditions when a ``rooms and passages'' domain \(G\) is a \((q,p)\)-Poincaré domain (we must have \(p>p_0(a,n,q)\) for some fixed \(p_0\) depending on \(n,a\) and \(q\)) are given. If \(p\leq p_0(a,n,q)\), then it is possible to construct functions to show that \(G\) is not a \((q,p)\)-Poincaré domain. The proofs use Hölder's inequality and a method based on a decomposition of the underlying domain into \((q,p)\)-Poincaré domains.
