Let \(E\) and \(F\) be Banach spaces and \(U\) be an open subset of \(E\). A subset \(B\) of \(U\) is said to be \(U\)-bounded if \(\text{dist}(B, \text{bdry}(U))>0\). The vector space of all holomorphic functions from \(U\) into \(F\) which are weakly continuous (resp., uniformly weakly continuous) on \(U\)-bounded subsets of \(U\) is denoted by \({\mathcal H}_w(U;F)\) (resp., \({\mathcal H}_{wu}(U;F)\)). \textit{R. M. Aron, C. Herves} and \textit{M. Valdivia} [J.~Funct. Anal. 52, 189--204 (1983; Zbl 0517.46019)] asked if we always have \({\mathcal H}_{wu}(U;F)={\mathcal H}_w(U;F)\). More recently, \textit{V. Carrión} and \textit{D. Humberto} [J.~Funct. Anal. 189, No. 2, 496--514 (2002; Zbl 1015.46027)] claimed that \({\mathcal H}_{wu}(E;F)={\mathcal H}_w(E;F)\) whenever \(E\) has a shrinking basis. Unfortunately, a gap in Carrión's proof was later discovered. In this paper, the author shows that \({\mathcal H}_{wu}(U;F)={\mathcal H}_w(U;F)\) whenever \(U\) is an open ball and \(E\) has an unconditional shrinking basis, the result for \(U=E\) with \(E\) having an unconditional shrinking basis having previously been established by Carrión. To obtain this result, the author works with the space \({\mathcal H}_{bk}(U;F)\) of all holomorphic functions from \(U\) into \(F\) which are bounded on weakly compact \(U\)-bounded sets, estimating the growth of `modifications' of the Taylor series of a holomorphic function over both \(U\) and weakly compact \(U\)-bounded sets. These `modifications' are defined in terms of the unconditional basis of \(E\) with the estimates obtained via an iterative and somewhat technical process.
