Let \(B_{n,q}(f,x)\) be the \(q\)-Bernstein polynomial of a continuous function \(f\). In this paper, the authors prove Voronovskaya type theorems and saturation of convergence for \(q\)-Bernstein polynomials of a function analytic in the disc \(U_{R}:=\{z:\, | z| <R\},\;(R>q)\) for arbitrary fixed \(q\geq 1\). More specifically, let \(D_{q}f(z)\) denote the \(q\)-derivative of \(f\) and for \(| z| <R/q\) set \(L_{q}(f,z):=\frac{(1-z)(D_{q}f(z)-f^{\prime}(z))}{q-1},\;\;q>1\) and for \(q=1\), \(L_{1}(f,z)=f^{\prime\prime}(z)\,z\,(1-z)/2\). The authors show that if a function \(f\) is analytic in the disc \(U_{R}\), then for any \(r\), \(0<r<R/q\), \[ \lim_{n \rightarrow \infty}[n]\big(B_{n,q}(f,z)-f(z)\big)=L_{q}(f,z) \] uniformly on the disc \(U_{r}\). Let \(R>q>1\). If a function \(f\) is analytic in the disc \(U_{R}\), then \(| B_{n,q}(f,z)-f(z)| =o(q^{-n})\) for infinite number of points having an accumulation point on \(U_{R/q}\) if and only if \(f\) is linear. The authors prove also that for \(R>1\) and \(f\) analytic in \(U_{R}\) then for any \(r\), \(0<r<R\), \(\lim_{q\rightarrow 1^{+}}L_{q}(f,z)=L_{1}(f,z)\) uniformly on \(U_{r}\).
