Galerkin alternating-direction method for a kind of second-order quasi-linear hyperbolic problems (Q2383643)

This paper deals with a numerical scheme approximation for second order quasilinear hyperbolic equations in bounded domains of \(\mathbb R\times\mathbb R^2\) by using the Galerkin alternating-direction method. In this sense the problem is transformed into a first-order differential system whose solution is suitable to be approximated by the Galerkin method. \(H^1\) and \(L^2\) error estimates are provided and numerical examples are also presented to sustain that the method is highly efficient for engineering-science computations.
