New classes of 2-weight cyclic codes (Q2384003)

The purpose of this paper is to study 2-weight cyclic codes over \(\mathbb{F}_q\) with \(q\neq 2\) which are direct sums of two 1-weight irreducible cyclic codes. The authors have characterized 1-weight irreducible cyclic codes of length \(\lambda({q^k-1\over q-1})\) where \(\lambda\) divides \(q-1\) and then introduce two special classes of 2-weight cyclic codes which are direct sums of 1-weight irreducible cyclic nodes. Of course, to find all such codes is an open problem.
