    This is a survey paper reporting results of the author in collaboration with P.~Girg, P.~Takáč, M.~Ulm on the quasilinear boundary value problem \[ -\Delta_{p}u-\lambda| u| ^{p-2}u+g(u)=f\;{\text{in}}\;\Omega,\;u=0\;{\text{on}}\;\partial \Omega, \] where \(\Omega\) is a bounded open connected subset of \(\mathbb R^{n}\), \(f\) a real valued function defined on \(\Omega\), \(g\) a function of \(\mathbb R\) to itself, \(p\in [1,+\infty[\), \(\lambda\) a spectral parameter. The results concern conditions of solvability for \(f\) when the spectral parameter \(\lambda\) is near the first variational eigenvalue, and aim at extending known results for the semilinear case \(p=2\).
