Let \(E\) and \(F\) be Banach spaces and let \(d(E,F)\) denote the Banach-Mazur distance between \(E\) and \(F\). It is shown that if, for some \(n\), \(E\) has a subspace \(M\) with \(d(M,\ell_p^n) < \lambda\) and \(F\) has a subspace \(N\) with \(d(N,\ell_q^n) < \mu\) with \(1 < p,q < \infty\), then the injective tensor product of \(E\) and \(F\) has an \(n\)-dimensional subspace \(L\) such that \(d(L,\ell_r^n) \leq \lambda \mu\) and \(r = \max\{0, 1/p + 1/q - 1\}\). Using Dvoretzky's theorem, the authors then show that if \(E\) and \(F\) are infinite-dimensional Banach spaces, then the injective (resp., projective) tensor product of \(E\) and \(F\) contains \((1+\varepsilon)\) uniformly complemented copies of \(\ell_\infty^n\) (resp., \(\ell_1^n\)). These results are also generalized to tensor products with more than two factors. One consequence of this is that if \(E\) is infinite-dimensional, then \(l_\infty\) is finitely represented in the space of \(n\)-homogeneous polynomials on \(E\), for every \(n\geq 2\). This was first shown in [\textit{S. Dineen}, Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 123, No. 9, 2817--2821 (1995; Zbl 0844.46009)]. Refining the previous arguments, the authors also give criteria for obtaining copies of \(c_0\) (resp., \(\ell_1\)) in the injective (resp., projective) tensor product of Banach spaces.
