Starting algorithms, without additional computational cost, for a class of Runge-Kutta (RK) methods, also with singular matrices, in the case of semi-explicit differential algebraic equations of index-2 are studied. For special methods the construction of optimal starting algorithms is described. Some numerical experiments are given.
