Let \(F(T;H)=\max_{| t-T| \leq H}| \zeta(1/2+it)| \) and \(G(T;H)=\max_{| s| \leq H}| \zeta(1/2+iT+s)| ,\) where \(\zeta(s)\) is the Riemann zeta-function. The author proves, that if \(0<H(T)\leq1/2\) and for \(T\geq T_1>0\) the estimate \(G(T; H)>T^{-c_1}\) holds, then for \(T\geq T_2>0\) the estimate \(F(T; H)>T^{-c_2}\) is valid. Here \(c_1\) and \(c_2\) are positive constants. Further he obtains the lower bound: if \(40\leq H(T)\leq\log\log T\), then for \(T\geq T_1>0\) the estimate \[ F(T; H)>T^{-\exp(-0.1 H)} \] holds. Proofs of both results are based on the maximum modulus principle and use the simplest function-theoretic properties of \(\zeta(s)\), thus the author notes that the results can be generalized to some other zeta-functions.
