Suppose that \(\{ \omega (z)\); \(z\in \mathbb{R}\} \) is a one-parameter family of simply connected bounded domains in \(\mathbb R^2\) with smooth boundaries containing the origin. The dependence on the variable \(z\) is of class \(C^2\) and periodic. Define a narrow cylinder \(G_\varepsilon \) with cross-section \(\varepsilon \omega (z)\). The Dirichlet problem for the Laplace operator is studied in the exterior of \(G_\varepsilon \). The solution is sought in the class of functions logarithmically increasing as the distance from the cylinder is increased. The reduced logarithmic capacity is defined. The asymptotics of the solution of the problem is studied as the ratio of the diameter of the cross-section of the cylinder to its period tends to zero.
