The author considers the Dirichlet problem for the linear functional differential equation \[ u''(t)=p(u)(t)+q(t),\qquad u(a)=c_1,\quad u(b)=c_2, \] where \(a,b,c_1,c_2\in \mathbb{R}\), \(p:C([a,b];\mathbb{R})\to L([a,b];\mathbb{R})\) is a nondecreasing linear operator, and \(q\in L([a,b];\mathbb{R})\). New sufficient conditions guaranteeing the unique solvability of the problem considered are obtained. Attention is paid to the case when the operator \(p\) is concentrated on the set \(A\subseteq[a,b]\). All results are concretized for the differential equation with deviating arguments of the form \[ u''(t)=\sum_{j=1}^{m} p_j(t)u(\tau_j(t))+q(t) \] with \(p_j\in L([a,b];\mathbb{R}_+)\) and measurable functions \(\tau_j:[a,b]\to [a,b]\), \(j=1,\dots,m\). The restriction on the set \(A\) in this case means \(\tau_j(t)\in A\) for \(t\in[a,b]\), \(j=1,\dots,m\). The results obtained generalize those by \textit{S. Mukhigulashvili}, [Mem. Differ. Equ.
