The paper deals with attainability sets of controlled state-space linear systems with time-varying coefficients \(\dot{x}(t) = A(t)x(t)+B(t)u(t)\). The attainability set at a given time \(T\) contains all states \(x(T)\) that can be reached from zero initial conditions \(x(0)=0\) using admissible inputs \(u\). In this paper, the set of admissible inputs consists of a finitely generated convex closed cone whose generators are given. For this set, the authors give sufficient rank conditions implying state-space matrices \(A\), \(B\), their time-derivatives, and the cone generators, ensuring that the attainability set (excluding the origin) is open.
