Let \(D\) be the unit disk, the Cauchy transform is defined to be \[ \mathcal C_\omega f(z):=-\frac 1\pi \int_{D}\frac{f(\xi)}{\xi-z}d\mu(\xi) , \] where \(f\in L^2(D,d\mu)\), \(d\mu = \omega(| z| )dA(z)\), with \(dA\) being the Lebesgue measure and \(\omega \in C^1(0,1)\) being a positive function such that \[ \frac {\omega(x)}x\int_0^xt\omega(t)dt\in L^1(0,1). \] The norm of the operator \(C_\omega\) is obtained. In the case \(\omega\equiv 1\), the first regularized trace of the operator \(C^*C\) on \(L^2(\Omega)\) is calculated. The results are illustrated by examples, with different specific choices of the function \(\omega\) and \(\Omega\) a bounded, simply connected domain in \(\mathbb C\); here \(C\) is the Cauchy transform over \(\Omega\) acting on \(L^2(\Omega)\).
