    The authors study the problem \[ y^{\Delta \Delta}(t) = f(t,y(\sigma(t)))+P(t)\, y^\Delta(\sigma(t)), \quad t \in [a,b] \] subject to different types of separated boundary value conditions. Here \(f:[a,b] \times {\mathbb R}^d \to {\mathbb R}^d\) and \(P\) is a \(d \times d \) matrix. Some existence results are deduced from a priori bounds of the solutions. Moreover some monotonicity properties on the norm of the solutions are proved. Problems defined in infinite intervals, uniqueness of solutions and results type uniqueness implies existence are also given.
