The reviewed monograph is devoted mainly to topological characteristics of dynamical systems (DS) which are useful for solving isomorphism, identity and stability problems in their theory. After an introductory part describing the stability and stability loss (bifurcations) with generic properties, the theory of center manifolds for discrete and continuous DS, the author gives a detailed presentation of Morse-Conley theory based on Floer homologies bringing to the homological Conley index notion and discrete Conley index as discrete topological invariants. Although these invariants can not always distinguish nonisomorphic systems, they allow one to detect quite suitable distinctions between dynamical systems. Chapter 4 is devoted to entropy as topological invariant for DS in spaces with measure. The results described help in solving identity problems as the relevance between initial conditions and subsequent behaviour together with attracting sets of dynamical systems. The fourth important problem in DS theory considered in the Chapters 5 and 6 concerns statistical behaviour of DS, contained mainly in paragraphs 6.2--6.6: ergodicity, entropy and information, invariant measures, stochastic processes and stochastic bifurcations. For smooth DS in Chapter 7, the Lyapounov exponents theory is presented. As illustration of topological invariant theory in Chapter 8, cellular automata and Boolean networks are considered as examples of discrete dynamical systems. As a rule, the theory of dynamical system invariants is presented here without proofs, however with suitable examples.
