Let \(\mathcal A\) denote the class of all functions \(f\) analytic in the unit disk \(D\) and normalized by \(f(0)=f'(0)-1=0\). Let \(\mathcal U\) be the subclass of functions \(f \in \mathcal A\) such that \[ \left|\left(\frac{z}{f(z)}\right)^2f'(z)-1\right|<1, \;\;z \in D. \] In this paper the authors are interested in functions \(f \in \mathcal A\) which have the form \[ \frac{z}{f(z)}=1+b_1z+b_2z^2 + \dots \;\;b_n \geq 0, \;\;n \geq 2,\leqno{(1)} \] for all \(z\) in a neighborhood of \(z=0\). Such class of functions has been considered for instance by \textit{M. O. Reade, H. Silverman} and \textit{P. G. Todorov} [Rend. Circ. Mat. Palermo, II. Ser. 33, 265--272 (1984; Zbl 0554.30003)]. The authors obtain various necessary and sufficient conditions for a function \(f \in \mathcal A\) of the form (1) to be in the class \(\mathcal U\). As a consequence univalence preservation type operators are discussed.
