The authors generalize some results on finite groups (largely dating from between 45 and 25 years ago and summarised fully and referenced in the text) to locally finite groups satisfying the minimal condition on \(p\)-subgroups for every prime \(p\). They concern trifactorizations. The authors prove the following results. Let \(G\) be a locally finite group with the minimal condition on \(p\)-subgroups for all primes \(p\) and suppose \(G\) has subgroups \(A\), \(B\) and \(C\) satisfying \(G=AB=AC=BC\). If \(A\) and \(B\) are locally nilpotent and \(C\) is locally soluble, then \(G\) is locally soluble. If \(A\), \(B\) and \(C\) are all locally nilpotent, then \(G\) is locally nilpotent. If \(A\) and \(B\) are locally nilpotent and \(C\) is locally supersoluble, then \(G\) is locally supersoluble. These results can be combined and generalized as follows. If \(\mathbf F\) is a saturated formation containing all locally nilpotent groups and if \(A\) and \(B\) are locally nilpotent with \(C\) an \(\mathbf F\)-group, then \(G\) is a locally soluble \(\mathbf F\)-group; further if \(G\) is also a Chernikov group, then \(G\) is actually a soluble \(\mathbf F\)-group.
