\textit{J. Franks} et al. [Ergodic Theory Dyn. Syst. 27, No. 5, 1557--1581 (2007; Zbl 1143.37030)] proved that for an abelian finitely generated subgroup \(G\) of \(\text{Diff}^1_+(\mathbb{R}^2)\) such that there is a \(p\in\mathbb{R}^2\) with bounded \(G\)-orbit, the elements of \(G\) will have a common fixed point. Here, the author considers the case where \(G\) is not necessarily finitely generated. He shows the existence of a neighbourhood \(V\) of the identity in \(\text{Diff}^1(\mathbb{R}^2)\) (in the Whitney \(C^1\)-topology) such that for any abelian subgroup \(G\) of \(\text{Diff}^1(\mathbb{R}^2)\) with generators in \(V\) there is a common fixed point of \(G\) in the convex hull of the closure of the orbit of any point \(p\in\mathbb{R}^2\) which possesses a bounded orbit.
