Let \(A\) be a Noetherian ring and \(M\) an \(m \times n\) matrix with entries in \(A\). The determinantal ideal \(I_{t+1}(M)\) is the ideal generated by all \((t+1)\)-st minors of \(M\). It is well-known that \(\text{ht} I_{t+1}(M) \leq (m-t)(n-t)\). If \(M\) is symmetric or alternating, then there are other upper bounds. On the other hand, the matrix \(M\) defines an \(A\)-homomorphism between finitely generated free modules. In the present paper, authors defines the \((t+1)\)-st determinantal ideal \(I_{t+1}(f)\) of an \(A\)-homomorphism \(f\) between general finitely generated modules and gave bounds of the dimension and connectedness dimension of \(V(I_{t+1}(f))\) under some mild assumptions.
