Let \(A\) be a Noetherian local ring with maximal ideal \(\mathfrak m\). The Loewy length of a finitely generated \(A\)-module \(M\) is defined to be \(\ell\ell(M) = \min\{n > 0 \mid {\mathfrak m}^n M = 0\}\). \textit{L. L. Avramov} et al. [Adv. Math. 223, No. 5, 1731--1781 (2010; Zbl 1186.13006)] showed that there is a lower bound of Loewy length of finitely generated \(A\)-modules of finite projective dimension. That is, let \(\text{ord} A = \min\{n \mid \ell(A/{\mathfrak m}^{n+1}) < \binom{n+c}{n}\}\) where \(c\) is the embedding dimension of \(A\). Then \(\ell(M) \geq \text{ord} A\) if \(A\) is Gorenstein, the associated graded ring \(\text{gr}_{\mathfrak m}(A)\) is Cohen-Macaulay and \(M\) is of finite projective dimension. However, the Cohen-Macaulayness of \(\text{gr}_{\mathfrak m}(A)\) is a very strong assumption. In the present paper, the author remove it from the theorem above. To do this, he define a new invariant \(\vartheta(A)\) by using superficial sequences.
