The aim of this book is to demonstrate the computational effectiveness of Green's functions in solving a class of complex engineering problems that are simulated with specific partial differential equations. The book is organized in 5 chapters, an appendix and references. Chapter 1, Green's functions for ODE, introduces the complementary concepts of the Green's function formalism applied to various types of boundary value problems for ordinary high-order linear differential equations and their systems. In addition to the standard type two-point-posed boundary value problems, the author discuss an extension of the Green's function multi-point-posed problems set up for specific sets of ordinary differential equations (Green's type matrix). Chapter 2, Spherical surface, describes an algorithm for the construction of computer representations of Green's functions for problems formulated in regions that represents fragments of a spherical surface. It deals with boundary value problems that simulate potential fields in regions of various configuration representing segments of a spherical surface all regions being regular in shape and bounded. As boundary conditions, all three classical types (Dirichlet, Neumann and Robin) appear in well-posed problem settings. In Chapter 3, Toroidal surface, the authors appeal to the development of the Green's function approach to boundary value problems that simulate potential phenomena occurring in a variety of regions belonging to a circular toroidal shell. All regions are considered to be regular and all the three classical type of boundary conditions are used in well-posed problem setting. Chapter 4, Compound structures, contains a detailed coverage of a specific kind of boundary value problems stated for sets of PDE. Each equation in the set governs a single potential function, and it is posed in an individual region which might share parts of the boundary with other region. In this way the sets of PDE cannot be considered as system of equations in a conventional sense. In order to treat such specific boundary value problems, the authors introduced the notion of matrix of Green's type for partial differential equations. In Chapter 5, Irregular configurations, the authors illustrate the practicality of numerical Green's function-based procedures.
