Let \(\Gamma\) be a non-rectifiable curve in the complex plane \({\mathbb C}\). The author considers the problem of finding a 2-by-2 matrix-function \(Y(z)\) analytic on \({\mathbb C}\setminus\Gamma\) and satisfying condition \(Y^{+}(t) = Y^{-}(t)G(t)\) imposed on its boundary values \(Y^{\pm}(t)\) at all the points \(t\) of \(\Gamma\) except maybe its endpoints \(t_0,t_1\). The known coefficient \(G\) is a triangular 2-by-2 matrix-function defined on \(\Gamma\). The solution is supposed to be bounded in a neighborhood of \(t_0,t_1\) and having the asymptotics \[ Y(z) = \left(I+O(z^{-1})\right)\begin{pmatrix} z^{n} & 0 \\ 0 & z^{-n} \end{pmatrix} \] when \(z\to\infty\). Here \(I\) is the identity matrix of order two and the natural number \(n\) is called the degree of the solution \(Y\). This is an analogue of the respective problem on an interval arising in Deift-Zhou theory (see, e.g., [\textit{P. Deift}, Orthogonal polynomials and random matrices: a Riemann-Hilbert approach. Reprint of the 1998 original. New York, NY: Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences; Providence, RI: American Mathematical Society (AMS) (2000; Zbl 0997.47033)]). Conditions are obtained on \(\Gamma\) and \(G\) guaranteeing the existence of solutions having a sufficiently high degree. Since the paper was published, some new characterizations of non-rectifiable curves were introduced in [the author, Sib. Math. J. 57, No. 2, 285--291 (2016: Zbl 1350.30063)] allowing to relax these conditions somewhat.
