In the framework of spherical coordinates, the radial derivative \(\partial_r\delta(\underline{x})\) of the delta distribution is defined and studied. A new space of continuous linear functionals called signum distributions is introduced. It is demonstrated that signum distributions allow easy-to-handle calculus rules similar to the conventional distribution calculus in \({\mathbb{R}}^m\). It is outlined that the spaces of test functions showing a singularity at the origin also appeared in the theory of so-called thick distributions. The theory of distributions with thick points in one variable introduced by \textit{R. Estrada} and \textit{S. A. Fulling} [Int. J. Appl. Math. Stat. 10, No. SO7, 25--37 (2007; Zbl 1153.46025)]. The link between the new theory of signum distributions and thick distributions will be explored next.
