After sketching some earlier results, the author proves the following theorem. Let \(\psi\) be apositive function satisfying the Lipschitz condition \(|\psi(x)-\psi(y)| \leq C|x-y|\) for \(x,y \in [-R,R]\), where \(R\geq 1\). Let \(\Psi_n(Q,I)\) be the number of algebraic numbers \(\alpha\) of degree \(n\) in the interval \(I\) satisfying \(\psi(\alpha) H(\alpha) \leq Q\), where \(\psi\) is defined explicitly. Then, it is shown that \[\Psi_n(Q,I) = \frac{Q^{n+1}|I|}{2\zeta(n+1)} +O\big(R^{n/(n+1)}Q^{n+1/2}(\log Q)^{l(n)/2}|I|+R^{2n/(n+1)}Q^n (\log Q)^{l(n)}\big) \] as \(Q \to \infty\).
