Let \(KG\) be the group algebra of a group \(G\) over a field \(K\) of prime characteristic \(p\). \(KG\) may be viewed as a Lie algebra with the bracket \([a,b]=ab-ba\). By the classical result of \textit{I. B. S. Passi} et al. [Can. J. Math. 25, 748--757 (1973; Zbl 0266.16011)], \(KG\) is Lie nilpotent if and only if \(G\) is nilpotent and its commutator subgroup is a finite \(p\)-group. The Lie nilpotency index of \(KG\) has been studied thoroughly since then. Recently, \textit{V. Bovd} and \textit{J. B. Srivastava} [Algebra Colloq. 17, No. 1, 17--26 (2010; Zbl 1197.16030)] classified Lie nilpotent group algebras \(KG\) with Lie nilpotency index \(t_L(KG)=|G'|-2p+3\), \(|G'|-3p+4\) and \(|G'|-4p+5\). In the present paper, Lie nilpotent group algebras \(KG\) with Lie nilpotency index \(t_L(KG)=|G'|-5p+6\), \(|G'|-6p+7\) and \(|G'|-7p+8\) are classified. The classification is a formidable task, shown by the fact that altogether 36 classes of group algebras are found.
