A Riemannian manifold \((M, g)\) is hyper-Kähler (HQ) if it admits three covariantly constant complex structures \(J_r\), \(r = 1, 2, 3\) with quaternionic relations \(J^2_r = -\operatorname{id}\), \(J_1J_2 = -J_2J_1 = J_3\). compatible with the Riemannian structure. In contrast to a hyper-Kähler manifold, almost complex structures of a quaternionic Kähler (QK) manifold \(N\) are defined only locally, i.e., we have a distinguished rank-3 subbbundle \(Q\subset \operatorname{End}(TN)\) called a structure bundle, which locally admits a basis consisting of three almost complex structures with quaternionic relations. In [J. Geom. Phys. 58, No. 3, 293--306 (2008; Zbl 1143.53043)], \textit{A. Haydys} presented a general geometric correspondence between QK and HK-manifolds with the Killing rotational vector field. More precisely, with any real \(4n\)-dimensional QK manifold \(M\) with a quaternionic isometry, he associated a conical HK manifold \(M_0\) of four dimensions higher, such that the original manifold can be recovered via the hyper-Kähler quotient construction. The main goal of this paper is to generalise the HK/QK correspondence to include para-versions of hyper-Kähler and quaternionic Kähler geometry. These are defined as follows A para-hyper-Kähler manifold \((M,g, J_1, J_2, J_3)\) is a pseudo-Riemannian manifold \((M,g)\) endowed with three skew-symmetric endomorphism fields \(J_1, J_2, J_3 \in \Gamma(\operatorname{End}(TM))\) that satisfy the para-quaternion algebra relations: \( J_1^2 = \epsilon_1 \operatorname{Id}_{TM}\), \ \(J_2^2 = \epsilon_2 \operatorname{Id}_{TM}\), \ \(J_1^2 = \epsilon_3 \operatorname{Id}_{TM}\), \ \(J_1 J_2 = J_3\), where \((\epsilon_1,\epsilon_2,\epsilon_3)\) is a permutation of \((-1,1,1)\), and such that the corresponding fundamental two-forms are closed. A para-quaternionic Kähler manifold \((N,g,Q)\) of dimension \(4n > 4\) is a pseudo-Riemannian manifold \((N,g)\) with non-zero scalar curvature endowed with a parallel skew-symmetric rank-three subbundle \(Q \subset \operatorname{End}(TN)\) that is locally spanned by three endomorphism fields \(J_1, J_2, J_3 \in \Gamma(Q)\) that satisfy the para-quaternion algebra. In this paper the authors present a new concise proof that the target manifold of the HK/QK correspondence is quaternionic Kähler. As an application, the authors construct one-parameter deformations of the temporal and Euclidean supergravity \(c\)-map metrics and show that they are para-quaternionic Kähler.
