The author discusses properties of paranormal spaces, and proves that if \(X\) is a compact space, \(\mathcal{F}\) is a normal functor of degree \(\geq 3\), and the space \(\mathcal{F}(X)\setminus X\) is hereditarily normal, then \(X\) is metrizable. The author also considers mapping properties of (hereditarily) paranormal spaces. The following results are proved: (1) Let \(X\) be a countably compact infinite space such that the Cartesian product \(X\times Y\) is hereditarily paranormal, then every closed subset of \(X\) is a \(G_{\delta}\)-set; (2) If \(X\) is a compact space and the space exp\(_{3}(X)\setminus X\) is a hereditarily paranormal space, then \(X\) is metrizable; (3) Each (hereditarily) paranormal space is preserved by a perfect mapping.
