In this paper, first, the authors investigate when a factor ring of \(C(X)\) is a \(C\)-ring (i.e. a ring that is isomorphic to a ring of continuous functions). For example they show that \(C(X)/C_{F}(X)\) is a \(C\)-ring if and only if the set of isolated points of \(X\) is finite (\(C_{F}(X)\) denotes the socle of \(C(X)\)). Also, an if and only if condition is given when \(C(X)/I\) is a \(C\)-ring, where \(I\) is an ideal of \(C(X)\). Next, some algebraic properties of the factor rings \(C(X)/O^{A}\) and \(C(X)/M^{A}\) like regularity and essentiality are investigated. It is shown for a closed subset \(A\) of \(\beta X\) that \(C(X)/O^{A}\) is an \(EIN\)-ring if and only if \(C(X)/M^{A}\) is an \(EIN\)-ring if and only if \(A\) is an \(EF\)-space (disjoint unions of clopen sets are completely separated; and a ring \(R\) is called an \(EIN\)-ring if for any two orthogonal ideals \(I, J\) of \(R\) which are generated by two subsets of idempotents, \(\mathrm{Ann}(I)+\mathrm{Ann}(J)=R\)). In the final section the authors also establish that the Goldie dimension of \(C(X)/O^{A}\geq\) Goldie dimension of \(C(X)/M^{A}\) and the inequality may be strict.
