The present paper is a well written, and reasonably self-contained survey, on conditions under which a smooth map between Banach-Finsler manifolds, which is locally well behaved (e.g. a local homeomorphism), has a global inverse. In the spirit of a classical theorem by Hadamard (1906), which establishes conditions under which the equation \(y=f(x)\) has a unique solution, for \(f:\mathbb R^n\to\mathbb R^n\) a differentiable mapping, the author covers a vast bibliography on Hadamard-type conditions ensuring global invertibility of local invertible smooth maps, connecting different conditions, and clarifying existing proofs. The focus is on nonlinear Fredholm operators of nonnegative index between Banach spaces. In the process, refinements of known results are obtained. For instance, Theorem A. 9: For a suitable submersion \(f:X\to F\) between a Banach-Finsler manifold \(X\) and a Banach space \(F\), and given \(x_0\in X\) and \(r>0\), a non-negative indicator \(\rho=\rho(r)\) is explicitly constructed, such that \(\rho>0\) implies that \[ B_\rho(f(x_0))\subset f(B_r(x_0)). \]
