The authors consider the operator equation \[ (x,y)=\left(A(x,y),B(x,y)\right) \] in which the operators \(A\) and \(B\) satisfy primarily some growth estimates such as, for example, that \[ A(tx,ty)\geq\varphi_1(t)A(x,y) \] and \[ B(tx,ty)\geq\varphi_2(t)B(x,t) \] for maps \(\varphi_1, \varphi_2: (0,1)\to (0,1)\). Here, the elements \(x\) and \(y\) belong to a suitable normal cone \(P\), which is contained within a Banach space. Under this and some other hypotheses, the authors study fixed point theorems for this problem. The authors' methodology permits them to deduce not only existence but also uniqueness and, moreover, their methodology provides for the existence of a sequence of approximations which converge strongly to the unique solution. As an application of the main results, the authors provide some existence and uniqueness results for the system of fractional differential equations \(-D_{0^+}^{\nu_1}y_1(t)=f\big(t,y_1(t),y_2(t)\big)\) and \(-D_{0^+}^{\nu_2}y_2(t)=g\big(t,y_1(t),y_2(t)\big)\) subject to the boundary conditions \[ y_1^{(i)}(0)=0=y_2^{(i)}(0), \] for \(0\leq i\leq n-2\), and \[ \left[D_{0^+}^{\alpha}y_1(t)\right]_{t=1}=0=\left[D_{0^+}^{\alpha}y_2(t)\right]_{t=1}, \] where \(\alpha\) is a real number satisfying \(1\leq\alpha\leq n-2\). All in all, the results are interesting and the paper is well written and easy to follow. Moreover, numerous examples help the reader to understand the import of the results. Researchers interested in either the fractional calculus or fixed point theory may find this paper to be of interest.
