Structure graphs of rings: definitions and first results (Q2405139)

Motivated by the Vieta formulas \((x,y)\mapsto(x+y,xy)\) in the complex geometry, the paper under review associates a directed graph \(\Gamma(A)\) to arbitrary ring \(A\), called the structure graph, with the set of vertices \(V=A^2\) and the set of edges \(E=\{(a,b)\rightarrow(a+b,ab):(a,b)\in A^2\}\). The author investigates some properties of the structure graph of the rings \(\mathbb{Z}_m\) and \(\mathbb{Z}_{k}\times\mathbb{Z}_{m}\). Based on some statistics obtained from computer calculations, the author proposes some interesting questions for further study.
