Let \(\alpha (P)\) denote the minimal cardinality of an infinite maximal antichain in \(P\) where \(P\) is a partial order having infinite antichains. It is shown that the equality \(\alpha (P\times P) =\alpha (P)\) holds for each infinite Boolean algebra \(B\) of size \(< \omega_1\) (Corollary 4.2), for all reversed trees (Theorem 5.1), for each atomic poset \(P\) containing infinite antichains (Theorem 6.1). It is also proven (Theorem 6.2) that if \(X\) is an infinite set and \(\{A_i\times B_i: i\in I\}\) an infinite partition of the square \(X\times X\) , then at least one of the families \(\{A_i: i\in I\}\) and \(\{B_i:i\in I\}\), \(A_i, B_i\subset X\), contains an infinite partition of the set \(X\). The following open problem concludes the paper (Question 6.3): Is there a partial order \(P\) (having infinite antichains) such that \(\alpha (P\times P)<\alpha (P)\)?
