It is of interest to give criteria on a vector bundle \(V\) over some variety \(X\) to split as a sum of line bundles. When considering vector bundles on the projective space it is known (the so-called Horrocks criterion) that a vector bundle splits if and only if it does along a \(2\)-plane. The main goal of this paper is to extend this criterion to \textit{minuscule homogeneous varieties}, i.e, Grassmannians, spinor varieties, even dimensional quadrics, the Cayley plane and the Freudenthal variety -- see Table 3.2 in the paper under review -- and also to odd dimensional quadrics (see Cor. 3.2). To be precise, the statement for minuscule varieties is the following (see Thm. in the Introduction and Thm. 2.3): a vector bundle on such \(X\) splits if and only if the same holds for the restriction to the \(2\)-dimensional Schubert subvarieties of \(X\) (which are in fact isomorphic to a \(2\)-plane). This result is obtained by repeatedly applying Thm. 3.4, a general result providing conditions on subschemes \(S \subset T\) and locally free sheaves \(V\) on \(T\) such that the splitting of \(V\) is equivalent to that of its restriction to \(S\).
