In the paper under review, the authors construct an improvement of the operator from the paper by \textit{I. Stasyuk} and \textit{E. D. Tymchatyn} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 141, No. 8, 2913--2921 (2013; Zbl 1284.54029)]. They describe an extension operator for partial, continuous, bounded functions and (pseudo)metrics on variable, closed subsets of a complete metric space with a broad set of properties. In particular, they show that this operator is linear, regular and continuous in several important topologies. This operator preserves admissible metrics, a fact that is not generally true for the earlier one constructed by Stasyuk and Tymchatyn [loc. cit.].
