On \({\mathbb R}^n\) let \(f^\sharp_\Delta (x)\) and \(M^\Delta f(x)\) denote the classical dyadic sharp function and dyadic maximal function respectively. The well-known Fefferman-Stein inequality asserts that \[ \left\| M^\Delta f\right\|_{L^p({\mathbb R}^n)}\leq C_n(p) \left\| f_\Delta^\sharp\right\|_{L^p({\mathbb R}^n)}, 1<p<\infty. \] The authors of the paper under review define localized sharp functions (localized mean that the cubes which are taken in the definition of sharp functions are contained in a bounded set \(\Omega\)). Localized maximal functions are associated with a Whitney covering of \(\Omega\). For certain domains (namely \({\mathbb R}^n\backslash \{0\}\), \((0,\infty)^n\), and \((0,2)^n\)) estimates analogue to that of Fefferman-Stein are proved. The proofs are based on the modifications of the good lambda inequality.
