The paper studies the stationary variational inequality of second kind in a reflexive Banach space. The main result concerns the directional differentiability of the solution map to such inequality. It is shown that the Hadamard directional derivative of the solution map is the unique solution of the variational inequality of the first kind. The result is applicable to derive stationarity conditions and numerical methods.
