This book presents the inviscid flow analysis and fills the gap between the undergraduate-level treatment of potential flow to a level required for research. It contains all necessary mathematical tools for developing mathematical models of inviscid flows, including attached and separated flows past wings, fins and blades of various shapes undergoing arbitrary motions. The book focuses exclusively on bodies immersed in an unbounded homogeneous incompressible fluid. It does not cover internal flows, compressible flows, or flows with free surfaces or fluid-fluid interfaces. The book is organized in 10 chapters: Introduction, Reference frames, Body motion and notation, Foundational concepts, General results on compressible flow about a body, Edge conditions, Force and moment on a body, Transport of vortex elements, Flow about a two-dimensional flat plate, Examples of two-dimensional flow modeling, Rigid motion of an ellipsoidal body. The appendix contains an extensive summary and a brief discussion of all essential mathematical results. A pervasive concept used throughout the book is the concept of flow contributor, based on the vortex element method, that contributes to the overall body motion in the fluid. This concept is quite useful, because many important characteristics of the fluid motion can be linearly decomposed into such vorticity contributions.
