Akivis algebras were introduced in 1976, by \textit{M. A. Akivis} in the paper [Sib. Math. J. 17, 3--8 (1976; Zbl 0337.53018); translation from Sibir. Mat. Zh. 17, 5--11 (1976)]. Let \(F(X)\) be the free nonassociative algebra over a field \(K\) with the set \(X\) of free generators. On \(F(X)\) were considered the following new operations: the commutator \([x,y]=xy-yx\) and the associator \( A(x,y,z)=x(yz)-(xy)z\). Tthe subalgebra of \(F(X)\) with respect to these operations, generated by a set \(X\) is a free Akivis algebra, denoted by \( Ak(X)\). In the last Theorem of this paper, as a main result, the author proves that the algebra \(Ak(X)\) has a linear basis.
