\textit{J. E. Andersen} and \textit{R. Kashaev} [Commun. Math. Phys. 330, No. 3, 887--934 (2014; Zbl 1305.57024)], defined a quantum invariant which they called the Teichmüller TQFT. In this construction, a 3-manifold equipped with an ideal triangulation and with a certain structure of dihedral angles on the edges leads to the definition of certain partition functions on state variables corresponding to the faces of the tetrahedra. In the same paper, Andersen and Kashaev made a Teichmüller TQFT volume conjecture which is analogous to the now classical volume conjecture of Kashaev, J. Murakami and H. Murakami. They conjectured that the hyperbolic volume of a knot complement appears in this Teichmüller TQFT as a certain asymptotic coefficient and they proved this conjecture for the first two hyperbolic knots. A few more special cases of the TQFT volume conjecture were proved by various authors. In the paper under review, the authors announce a proof of the Teichmüller TQFT volume conjecture for all twist knots up to 14 crossings. Along with the result, the authors compute the partition function of the Teichmüller TQFT for the whole infinite family of twist knots. The techniques they use are based on methods introduced by Andersen, Kashaev, H. and J. Murakami and others, and in particular the authors use an algorithm of Thurston to construct a polyhedral decomposition of the 3-sphere starting from a knot diagram, which gives rise to an ideal triangulation of a twist knot complement.
