Let \(E=\mathbb{C}/L\) be an elliptic curve where \(L=\mathbb{Z}\oplus\lambda\mathbb{Z}\) is a lattice with \(\lambda\in\mathbb{C}\) satisfying \(\Im\lambda>0\). A dihedral group \(D_{n}:=\langle a,b: a^{n}=b^{2}=1, bab^{-1}=a^{-1}\rangle\) acts on \(E\) by \(a\cdot z=z+\frac{1}{n}\) and \(b\cdot z=-z\). Let \(\rho:D_{n}\to GL_{m}(\mathbb{C})\) be a representation, and let \(D_{n}\) act on \(E\times \mathbb{C}^{m}\) diagonally. Then the projection \(E\times\mathbb{C}^{m}\to \mathbb{C}^{m}\) induces a map \(\eta:(E\times \mathbb{C}^{m})/D_{n}\to \mathbb{C}^{m}/D_{n}\), which is called the dihedral quotient family of \(E\) associated with \(\rho\). In this paper the authors classify these families when \(\rho\) is an irreducible representation, and describe their singular loci and fibers as well as the dynamic motion of the singular fibers. The proofs are done on a case by case basis, and they are very detailed. The authors also consider the binary dihedral group, also known as dicyclic group, \(\tilde D_{n}=\langle \tilde a,\tilde b:\tilde a^{2n}=1, \tilde a^{n}=\tilde b^{2}, \tilde b\tilde a\tilde b^{-1}=\tilde a^{-1}\rangle\), construct families of similar quotients, and classify them. They remark that, even though the representations of the dihedral and binary dihedral groups are analogous, their families of associated quotients are totally different.
