The history of this problem started with the work of the Markov brothers, long time ago, approximately between the end of the 1800s and the first two decades of the 1900s. \par The author takes into consideration the Laplace operator on the finite-dimensional linear space of algebraic polynomials in \(N\) variables such that each variable occurs at most with the power \(n\). This class of polynomials is endowed with the Hermite norm or the Legendre norm. \par The author obtains an asymptotic formula for the norm of the Laplace operator on this space in the Hermite case and asymptotic upper and lower bounds in the Legendre case as \(n\) tends to \(+ \infty\). The method is based on the use of the Rayleigh-Ritz theorem and the Faulhaber formula.
