Let $R$ be a commutative ring with unity. Then $R$ is said to have Noetherian spectrum if it satisfies the acc on radical ideals. It is called a piecewise Noetherian if it has a Noetherian spectrum and it satisfies the acc on $P-$primary ideals for each prime ideal $P$. An ideal $I$ of $R$ is an SFT-ideal if there exist a finitely generated ideal $J\subseteq I$ and a positive integer $k$ such that $a^k\in J$ for each $a\in I$. The ring $R$ is called an SFT-ring if each ideal of $R$ is an SFT-ideal. The present paper deals with stability of these Noetherian-like properties under polynomial and power series extensions. The author gives many positive results and some counterexamples.
