The authors study generalized Cheeger-Gromoll metrics and their generalization to transitive Euclidean Lie algebroids. \textit{M. Benyounes} et al. introduced and studied a family $\{h_{p,q}\}_{p\in\mathbb R, q \geq 0}$ of Riemannian metrics on the tangent bundle, on the total space of a Euclidean vector bundle $E$ over a Riemannian manifold $M$, known as generalized Cheeger-Gromoll metrics, see [Differ. Geom. Appl. 25, No. 3, 322--334 (2007; Zbl 1128.53037); Tokyo J. Math. 32, No. 2, 287--312 (2009; Zbl 1200.53025)]. Such a family includes the Cheeger-Gromoll metric $h_{1,1}$ and the Sasaki metric $h_{0,0}$. The authors give a rigidity result of these metric, Theorem 1.1, that can be stated as: $(E, h_{p,q})$ has constant scalar curvature if and only if $E$ is locally the Riemannian product of $M$ and the fiber, and both $M$ and the fiber have constant scalar curvature. Then the authors extend the definition of generalized Cheeger-Gromoll metrics on the total space of transitive Euclidean Lie algebroids. Their second result is Theorem 1.3 (to be compared with a result in [\textit{S. Gudmundsson} and \textit{E. Kappos}, ibid. 25, No. 1, 75--83 (2002; Zbl 1019.53017)]), concerning the scalar curvature of $h_{1,1}$ on the transitive Lie algebroid canonically associated to a Riemannian manifold with constant sectional curvature.
