Summary: \textit{T. W. Chaundry} and \textit{A. E. Joliffe} [Proc. Lond. Math. Soc. (2) 15, 214--216 (1916; JFM 46.0455.03)] proved that if \(\{c_k\}^\infty_{k=1}\) is a nonincreasing real sequence with \(\lim_{k\to\infty}c_k=0\), then the series \(\sum^\infty_{k=1}c_k\) sin \(kx\) converges uniformly if and only if \(kc_k\to 0\). The purpose of this paper is to show that \(kc_k\to 0\) is a necessary and sufficient condition for the uniform convergence of the series \(\sum^\infty_{k=1}c_k\) sin \(\sqrt k\theta\) in \(\theta\in [0,\pi]\). However for \(\sum^\infty_{k=1}c_k\) sin \(k^2 \theta\) it is not true in \(\theta \in [0,\pi]\).
